International Artists Residency Program 2013 at the National Art Studio, Changdong, Korea

The National Art Studio, Changdong, run by the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea, is now accepting applications for the International Artists Residency Program 2013.



■ Application period: 8 March - 7 April, 2013 (closing date : 7 April, 2013) * All materials should be arrived by 7 April, 2013 by post
■ Discipline: Visual Arts
■ Residency session: (3months) 6 October - 20 December, 2013
■ Venue: National Art Studio, Changdong (Seoul)
■ Origin of candidates: All regions of the world (except Korea)
■ Language: English
■ Eligibility for Application: - Applicants must be established individual artists who are over 25 years old. Applicants will be accepted from all regions of the world (except Korea). * For this program we are seeking only individual artists, not duos or teams. Work partners, assistants, spouses and family members are allowed for day visits only. - Artists who have not previously participated in a residency program at the National Art Studio (Changdong/Goyang). - Proficiency in English (required)
■ Benefits for selected artists: - Private studio including accommodation space inside (free of charge) - Opportunities for exhibition at studio gallery - Visiting program, seminar and cultural excursion - Monthly allowance: • 3months: KRW 900,000 (approx. USD 800) * The allowance will be provided on a monthly basis.
■ Applicant’s responsibilities - Materials required for artistic activities - Health and Casualty Insurance - Meals, travel costs, living expenses
■ How to Apply: Send a CD or DVD containing digital files of the materials (all materials except a letter of recommendation) and a letter of recommendation as stated below by traceable post no later than 7 April, 2013.

3. A brief artist’s statement and a pre-project report including the anticipated outcome during residency (max. 1 page)
4. CV or résumé including exhibitions, projects, residency, awards and education (max. 2 pages).
5. Portfolio (digital files) - Up to 10 still images in jpg or ppt format. - For video works, up to 3 individual clips(not link to website) in avi, mov, wmv formats (each max. 5min). - Preferably with a list of works (title, year, medium, size and brief description).
6. Letter of Recommendation - One original letter (not a digital file) - The recommendation must be written by a person who works in the culture and art field such as a director (museum, gallery or residency), curator, art critic, professor, art editor, etc. - The letter must be signed by the recommender.
