Guest Artist Pavillion Project Toledo Museum of Art

Glass / Non-Glass Artists 1 week juried residency
The Toledo Museum of Art Glass Studio offers an open call for artists of all media to submit proposals for a 1 week residency in the Museum’s Glass Pavilion Studio to explore their ideas in glass.

Residency Features and Expectations:
Selected artists will have access to all of the studio facilities and resources but should be primarily focused on hotshop studio work. Artists are required to work in view of the public for portions of the residency and should be prepared to discuss their work and process in the studio on occasion.
Artists are also invited to give a public talk on the Friday evening of their residency.
Non-glass artists will be provided with technical assistance to realize their vision in glass.

Residency Provides:

  • Artists chosen for this residency will keep all work that they make.
  • A $1500 honorarium to help with residency related expenses.
  • Hotel stay will be provided for the course of the residency.
  • Some materials will be provided by the Studio dependent upon availability.

The Toledo Museum's Glass Pavilion opened in 2006 and uniquely combines gallery spaces that display one of the world’s great glass collections alongside a dynamic working glass studio born from Toledo roots as the birthplace of the American Studio Glass Movement.

This residency is part of the Toledo Museum of Art's Guest Artist Pavilion Project, or GAPP. It brings in all types of artists who are willing to explore the use of glass in their work, to be inspired, without restriction, by the TMA collection, studio facilities, and staff. The program features established and emerging artists residencies, public artist’s talks and offers intensive workshops with visiting artists who can share specialized techniques with our community.
